Job Description

A financial firm is seeking a Unix Systems Admin to join their team in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Meetings/Training/General Paperwork
  • Monitor the workflow queue; Review, arbitrate, and escalate as needed
  • Understand change management workflows and when to use a Problem Ticket, Work Order 
  • How to obtain and understand asset information from Tec tools, PAC2000, etc.
  • Execute basic to moderate maintenance work and problem remediation
    • Support legacy Enterprise Data Lake platform
    • Apply automated OS Patches to Noncomplex Servers.
    • Basic to moderate CR/WOs and WR,
    • Other automated maintenance activities via DMAN or HPSA to noncomplex servers.
    • Software Installs
    • Basic to moderate Problem Tickets
  • Conduct basic to moderate troubleshooting
  • Run scripts as needed while following documentation from Technical Leads
  • Understand escalation paths within team and how and when to escalate to other teams
  • Provide support for the most complex technical issues and initiatives related to large-scale applications, systems, and/or other technical products and services
  • Use/create diagnostic, simulation and other tools to maintain, troubleshoot and restore service or data to systems
  • Act as an internal consultant regarding use of tools and processes
  • Evaluate service level agreement criteria
  • Identify gaps in current technology processes and recommends changes to assure SLAs can be supported
  • Perform complex migrations from development to production, upgrades, installations and/or configurations
  • Update/write documentation and procedures and creates and/or provides related training
  • Troubleshoot network, hardware and software issues and coordinates resolution with users, vendors and internal service groups
  • Assess changes for risk to production systems and assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported areas
  • Create, update and test the business continuation plan
  • Provide subject matter expertise to less experienced analysts

This is a 24/7 support role:

  • On-Call, approximately 4-6 week rotation is required
  • Work hours will be 8 hour shifts between Wednesday and Sunday during the 9AM(EST) to 9PM (EST) windows. Occasional extended business hours are needed with advance notice.

Qualifications

Required

  • 6+ years of systems support analysis experience
  • 5+ years of Shell Scripting (Bash, Perl, Python)
  • 3+ plus years of incident, change and problem ticket management
  • 2+ years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration experience
  • 2 + years of Unix cluster experience – Veritas and RHEL Cluster Suite
  • 2+ years of Monitoring and Alerting Tools
  • Solid understanding of ITIL

Preferred

  • Proven experience using Log Aggregation (Splunk, etc.)
  • Good understanding of Data Warehousing environments
  • High-level knowledge of Hadoop environments
