Job Description

A financial services organization is seeking a Storage Administrator to join their team in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments and functions in a timely manner while in constant communication with Support Engineers and Escalation Managers
  • Provision NAS storage to both Windows and UNIX hosts
  • Setup, monitor and maintain snap mirror relationships
  • Manage volume and qtree storage quotas
  • Work with UNIX SAs on NFS mount issues
  • Engage with Systems Engineer, DBA and Server teams for validating source and target RDF devices and to approve SRDF split/establish requests
  • Analyze the performance metrics of Storage frame components (FA/Device/Cache/Disk Adapters/Switches) to investigate issues related to latency and providing best solutions to improve the host IO performance
  • Monitor the SAN and Storage alerts regularly across the environment for warnings/critical alarms and proactively take steps to prevent potential issues from occurring
  • Configure zones on Brocade switches using CLI and Fabric Manager for creating zones, updating zones to the zonesets and activating zonesets
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day performance issues and resolve them using OnCommand Insight Manager
  • Compare the port utilization, IOs and read/writes to the disks using performance manager and analyzing the data for trouble shooting performance issues
  • Investigate the host path failure issues to identify the cause and resolving the issues with HBA, cable and SFPs
  • Configuration and allocation of storage for production and corporate VMware hosts from VMAX

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of operating systems including SUN Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows
  • Able to collaborate across multiple teams
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
  • Aptitude for learning, excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work successfully through complex issues in high stress situations
  • Able to use vender tools, (i.e. System Manager, On Command Unified manager, Ops manager and various other vender tools)
  • Able to work with both 7mode, object storage and Cluster mode storage devices
  • Familiar with Storage Grid devices
  • Experience with VMAX tools such as Solution Enabler/SMC/Unisphere
  • Experience performing SRDF operations split/swap/failover/failback/restore as per the requirement from customer and successfully performed DR testing of multiple applications using SRDF/S and SRDF/A
  • May entail some holiday and/or weekend coverage
