Our client is seeking a Portfolio Data Analyst to join their team in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex business requirements into abstract high level (system/data) models
  • Resolve issues experienced by cross-functional users of the data
  • Consider the results of transaction, position, market value exceptions in an effort to identify common themes and root causes
  • Manage projects related to the root cause of cash, position, and transactional anomalies; monitor trends and build a case for change – data or workflow
  • Provide guidance and expertise to Business Analysts and IT regarding development requirements for Portfolio Accounting initiatives
  • Develop robust knowledge of data, accounting practices and security representation and how these interact with external parties in support of accurate books and records for the portfolio management process
  • Collaborate with IT to define and improve technology solutions
  • Work with stakeholders to turn challenges and ideas into solutions
  • Strategically review accounting, reconciliation, and cash control workflows and make recommendations on areas that need additional development

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related discipline and
  • 5+ years of experience; financial services industry experience is a plus
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and data modeling
  • Experience in Oracle Database Technologies and AWS Aurora/MySQL
  • Experience in Data Modeling, Data Design, Data Governance, Investment Management processes, systems, quality assurance and an awareness of Market and Reference Data landscape are critical; Able to acquire knowledge and grasp new skills on-the-fly is essential to success in this role
  • Understanding of investment management operations and support practices
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of the financial services industry required; The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of diverse asset classes (equities, fixed income, derivatives) data lifecycle
  • Well organized, resourceful, motivated and have the ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities
  • Highly self-directed and able to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent and competing challenges, issues, ambiguities, and contradictions
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong facilitation skills to engage subject matter experts to define data requirements
