Job Description

 A private equity, alternative asset management and financial services firm is currently seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their team in New York. 

The position will involve deploying and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, full-stack development for the firm's internal automation tools and Puppet manifest/module development. In addition, you will be researching and implementing technologies and workflows to drive the next wave of technology and development within the firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain infrastructure using code-first approaches
  • Build, maintain, and manage clusters for technologies like Kubernetes
  • Support containerized workflows and applications
  • Drive container adoption among developers and teams
  • Work with development teams to migrate applications to containers
  • Research and deploy new technologies to continue moving the team and the firm forward
  • Deploy Puppet
  • Manifest creation and module development in Ruby
  • Extend in house Puppet development tooling
  • Improve software development process across teams
  • Work with operations and development teams to understand pain points and to drive automation priorities

Skills:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience creating and managing Kubernetes clusters in different types of environments
  • Experience with role based access control, secret management, monitoring and service discovery in k8's environment
  • Experience with Helm 
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
  • Ability migrating non-containerized applications to containers
  • Capable of evolving and improving complex systems
  • Experience with Windows Containers 
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python or Ruby) is a plus 
  • Experience working with source control and CI/CD systems (Jenkins/TeamCity)
  • Experience with a configuration management tool (Puppet)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills on both Windows and Linux
