An insurance provider is seeking a Data Analytics Specialist to join their team in Washington, D.C.

The Data Analytics Specialist is a key contributor to the successful delivery of business intelligence information to the entire organization.

Within this role, you will be responsible for eliciting data business requirements, collecting and identifying datasets, and the subsequent development of technical solutions. The Data Analytics Specialist utilizes a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and industry standards with an emphasis on data visualization tool (Power BI) as core development tools.


  • Gather business requirements and provide quality documentation of detailed user requirements for the design and development of software applications
  • Transform business requirement to technical requirements and translate them to use cases or user stories
  • Act as the primary interface to the business and other technical teams; guide and coach business stakeholders through the requirement gathering process
  • Transform complex raw data into actionable business intelligence
  • Plan, arrange and facilitate meetings, workshops, and relations with user staff during system investigations and throughout subsequent development work
  • Address business requests using data mining and business analysis tools (Power BI, SQL, Azure)
  • Develop business, financial, and marketing performance metrics, reports, and dashboards


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
  • 3 years of experience in data analytics structures, theories and methodologies
  • 3 years of experience in MS SQL, NoSQL, REST API, JSON, etc.
  • Knowledge in business intelligence, data science development and implementation, data architecture, data visualization, manipulation, ETL layers, and performance tuning
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities specific to data with a strong emphasis on customer service both internal and external
  • Able to work cross functionally to drive the accurate capture of requirement, resolving and closing down issues and information shortfall as and when they appear
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Able to develop user-facing reports using (Power BI, Tableau etc.)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong customer service skillset and related experience
  • Experience using Agile/Scrum practices
  • Able and willingness to learn new technologies and apply them effectively
  • Able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge with analytics and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Domo, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work simultaneously on multiple assignments
  • Able to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
